Private Lessons in the Alexander Technique
Our habits feel natural to us, even if they are bad ones. Lessons help us learn to recognize and understand poor habits we are frequently unaware of. Without correction, these poor habits can lead to back pain, muscle fatigue, unbalanced development, and many other problems. Over a lifetime these habits and their effects can build up to cause chronic and even debilitating problems. With lessons in the Alexander Technique, we learn to stop these habits and choose to function in a more positive, productive, and healthy way.

What Happens
Lessons last 45-50 minutes, and consist of (non-manipulative) hands-on guidance and verbal instruction in basic everyday movement. We will spend about half of the lesson working with a chair going through motions of sitting, standing, walking, turning, and various points of balance. The other half will be spent laying in active rest on a bodywork table while I work to align your entire body.

After a course of several lessons, when a student has acquired a basic understanding of the principles of the Alexander Technique, instruction is also applied to students' lives and activities. We can address pre-existing injury and pain, playing a musical instrument, work-related movement requirements, and more, based on your needs.
